In Love with Love

I was going through old photos of my trip to Paris, France this past May, when I came across this picture taken while I was at the Louvre. Its a sculpture of Eros and Psyche in an embrace. This was my favorite of all the Greek myths when I was a little girl. I memorized it. I even wrote a short-story, modern day version of if for my final project in college when I took a course on children’s literature. I remember being in that museum, with hundreds of works of art to see, but only had eyes for this one sculpture. I must have spent 20 minutes at least, just admiring it, snapping pictures of it, and adoring every angle of it. I circled the sculpture several times, trying to commit every detail to memory as I captured them on camera. My favorite thing about this piece is that it is depicting the final resolution to the climax of the story! What I Learned in Paris: A Tourist’s Reflections

As you may or may not know, I returned from my dream vacation of being in Paris, France a little over a week ago. It was my first time ever leaving the country, and what’s more I went utterly and completely alone. I speak no French, and had no family contacts to speak of. The best I had going for me was a few acquaintances made through contacts from others. And honestly, it was one of the best experiences of my life. One that will always be unforgettable. Now, I thought about a number of topics I could have covered for my blog. I could have done a piece on Parisian fashion. This to me, however, seemed like the most obvious of directions to go. I could have written an in-depth critique on the restaurants and all the food I got to enjoy. But, honestly, I would not have had any negative things to say, so it would have turned into a rant on how great the food is everywhere in Paris. Of course there …
